Developmental editing

Before joining Microsoft, I worked as an independent consultant for Amazon Publishing, where I provided developmental editing, marketing strategy, and author coaching services. My objective was to identify hidden gems in Amazon Publishing’s massive slush pile and to help bring those novels through the editorial and marketing processes so that they’d be profitable. In the spirit of full disclosure, there were few gems, and even gems have an extraordinarily difficult time gaining traction in a market where supply far exceeds demand. Still, I found dozens of great, diverse novels out of the 1,000+ that I read, and I’m very proud of that.
